Our story

From Manaus
to Orlando.

Head Coach Salenco “Steel” Coutinho and Professor Rita Reis both come from Amazonas, Brazil. They brought that mat culture to Orlando: technical, demanding and built around family.

Beginners learn the fundamentals step by step. Competitors get personal coaching. Kids grow up on the mat with attention adapted to each one’s level.

From the moment you walk in, you’re treated like family. Professor Salenco is an incredible instructor. His level of knowledge and attention to detail is elite, and he has a unique ability to break down techniques so that everyone can understand and improve.

I have taken my son to many gyms and I will tell you there is not many Professors like Salenco. He has true passion for jiu jitsu and great intentions for his students who choose to compete.

I’ve never trained. Is that ok?
That’s exactly who Fundamentals is for. Classes start from the basics and progress at a pace that’s challenging but doable. Most of our students walked in with zero experience.
How old does my child need to be?
Kids I starts at age 3 (3–5 years). Kids II is for ages 6–12, and Kids Competition for 6–13. Wrestling Kids is for ages 6–14 and requires a grey belt minimum plus wrestling shoes.
What should I wear to my first class?
Comfortable athletic clothes are fine for your first class. Most classes are Gi; Fundamentals on Tuesday and Thursday are No-Gi. Talk to us about getting your own gi once you decide to stay.
Do I have to compete?
No. Competing is optional. Many students train for fitness, self-defense and stress relief. The ones who want to compete get personalized coaching from the professors.
How much is membership?
Plans depend on the program and how often you train. Come for your free class and we’ll walk you through the options in person, no pressure.
